Privacy notice
- What you send goes to the services listed below so that it can be checked. We delete our copy after 30 days; the services keep theirs as described below.
- No accounts, no ads, no tracking. For people aged 18 and over.
- Please don't send other people's private information.
Who runs this
Information Verifier is a free, non-commercial service run by Vinayak Mokashi in India. To ask a question, to have something deleted or corrected, or to make a complaint, write to [email protected].
What is collected
- What you send: a message, a screenshot or photo, a voice note or video, or a link to a public post on Instagram, YouTube or Facebook.
- What is made from it: the text read from an image, the words heard in a recording, and a linked post's caption and words.
- The answer written for you, with its sources.
- To keep within the daily limits: on this website, your internet (IP) address and a cookie holding a random number for your browser; on Telegram, your Telegram user or chat number. These are kept in the server's memory to count today's checks and are not written to disk โ except that the Telegram bot notes your chat number until your answer is delivered (at most a day), so that a restart does not lose it.
- Your answer language, if you choose one: saved in your own browser only.
Why
To check what you sent and show you the answer, and to stop abuse and keep the service within its daily budget. We don't use any of it for advertising or profiling, and we don't train AI on it.
Who receives it
- Anthropic (USA): its AI, Claude, reads what you sent and what was read from it, searches the web, and writes the answer. Claude also reads the text in screenshots. Anthropic does not train its models on it, and deletes it within 30 days โ except content its safety systems flag, which it may keep for up to 2 years (and safety scores for up to 7 years), or longer where the law requires.
- Google (USA): the start of the text, to look it up in Google's database of published fact-checks (Fact Check Tools).
- Sarvam AI (India): the sound of voice notes and videos, to turn it into text. Sarvam may keep it, under its own terms.
- Instagram, YouTube or Facebook, when you send a link: our server fetches that public post to read its caption and sound. The platform sees our server, not you.
- Cloudflare (USA): carries all traffic to this website, and runs the check that you are a person (Turnstile) under its own privacy policy.
- Telegram, if you use the Telegram bot: it carries your messages and the answers.
Nothing is sold, and nothing goes anywhere else.
How long it is kept
- Your message, what was read from it, and the answer:
deleted after 30 days. Until then, anyone who has the address of
the answer's page (it ends in
#job=โฆ) can open it, so share that address only if you mean to. - A copy used to answer the exact same message again, without paying for it twice: deleted after 7 days.
- What a public post said (its caption and words): deleted after 30 days, so that the same video is not transcribed twice.
- A record of what each check cost โ its date, kind and price, never what was sent and never who sent it: kept, to track spending.
- The per-person counts behind the daily limits: only in the server's memory, cleared after the day they count (and whenever the server restarts).
What this service does not do
There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. This site
sets one cookie, named vd: it holds a random number for your
browser, so that checks can be counted per device, and nothing about
you.
For adults only
This service is for people aged 18 and over. Please don't use it if you are younger.
Other people's information
Forwarded messages and screenshots often carry other people's names, numbers or photos. Before you send one, please remove anything private that isn't needed to check the claim. Whatever you send is kept only as long as described above.
Your rights
To have a check deleted or corrected sooner, write to [email protected] with
the address of its answer page (ending in #job=โฆ), or with
the message and the day you sent it. We aim to reply within 7 days. From
13 May 2027 you can also complain to the Data Protection Board of
India.
Changes
India's Digital Personal Data Protection Rules take full effect on 13 May 2027, and this notice will be updated before then. The date at the top says when it last changed.
